Education System in New Zealand

The NZ education system is broadly divided into Primary School, Secondary School and Tertiary Education.

Primary Education/Intermediate School

Primary school is where education begins. Children can attend a contributing primary school or a full primary school.

Contributing Primary schools range from Year 1 to Year 6.

Full Primary Schools range from Year 1 to Year 8.

If your kid is enrolled at a contributing primary school, you must enrol them in an intermediate school to complete Years 7 and 8.

The New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF)

NZQF is the cornerstone of the country's internationally recognised education system and encompasses both secondary and university education. It is administered by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), the country's only reliable source of the correct information on all forms of quality-assured qualifications for both domestic and international students.

NZQ-Framework is divided into 10 levels and encompasses various qualifications from certificates to PhD degrees. The levels are determined by the degree of difficulty of the learning.

New Zealand has majorly two intake sessions per year for the traditional graduate and postgraduate degrees.

January-February Intake

July Intake

This session is preferred by Indian students as by this time the majority of educational institutions have released the degrees/ marksheets to students. This session can also stretch till November
